Jane Kaczmarek is an American actress from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She grew up a Roman Catholic in Greendale. Her mother Evelyn is a teacher and her father Edward Kaczmarek is a worker at the US Department of Defense. She is of Polish descent.

Career

Jane Kaczmarek is best known for her role on the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle (TV series, 2000–06). The series earned her three Golden Globe nominations and seven Primetime Emmy nominations. She played in the legal drama television series Equal Justice (TV series, 1990–1991).

Her other television credits include Judge Trudy in Raising the Bar (2008–2009), Ann in Falling in Love (1984), and Gayle in 6 Balloons (2018). She acted in an episode of the television sitcom Frasier (1996–1997) where she played Maureen Cutler, a policewoman who picked Frasier up for speeding in Season 3.

Kaczmarek made a vocal performance in the television series Jake and the Never Land Pirates (2012–2015) during its second season in early 2012. In November 2012, she acted as a guest on ABC’s The Middle as a dental teacher. She guest-starred on the long-running legal drama, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2013), as D.A. Pam James.

Jane Kaczmarek and former Malcolm in the Middle co-star Bryan Cranston reprised their plays in an “alternate ending” film on the Breaking Bad (2013). In it, Hal wakes up from the nightmare that was the scene of Breaking Bad, in a nod to the last scene from Newhart (1982–1990).
