If you are a fan of animals and their amazing veterinarians, you have probably watched The Incredible Dr. Pol on Nat Geo Wild. The show follows the adventures of Dr. Jan Pol, a Dutch-born vet who runs a busy clinic in rural Michigan, along with his family and staff. But did you know that the show has undergone some cast changes over the years? Some familiar faces have left, while some new ones have joined the team. In this article, we will tell you who are the new and old members of The Incredible Dr. Pol, and what they are doing now. Read on to find out more about your favorite animal heroes.
One of the most notable departures from the show was Dr. Emily Thomas, who joined the clinic in 2015 and quickly became a fan favorite. She left the show in 2019 to move to Virginia with her husband and three children. She now works at a small animal clinic and occasionally posts updates on her Instagram account. Other vets who left the show were Dr. Elizabeth Grammer, Dr. Sandra, and Michele Sharkey.
On the other hand, some new vets have joined the show and brought their own expertise and personality to the clinic. Dr. Lisa Jones is one of them, another newcomer is Dr. Nicole Arcy, and the third is Dr. Ray Harp, who has a background in dairy farming and mixed animal practice but did not last long.
Who are the Later additions of “The Incredible Dr.Pol”?
Dr. Nicole Arcy:
Dr. Nicole Arcy loved watching Dr. Pol’s work and was a regular fan of the show. After graduating from high school, Dr. Arcy joined the Bachelor of Science in Zoology program at Michigan State University-Lyman Briggs. Following her time at the University, Dr. Arcy wasted no time in getting her master’s and enrolled in the Master of Public Health program at the University of Missouri. She earned her DMV from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine.
After her time at Vet School, Dr. Arcy was on the lookout for a place that not only worked on small and big animals but also focused on exotic animals.
“I enjoyed watching Dr. Pol on TV since before vet school. When it came time to find a job before I graduated, I was looking for a hospital that worked on not only small and large animals but also exotics/small mammals. This type of practice is very rare, and Pol Vet is one of the only ones in Michigan. I interviewed with Dr. Pol and fell in love with the place. It is a great fit!.”
Dr. Ray Harp:
Dr. Ray Harp joined Dr. Pol as an associate veterinarian and started working on the 1st of July, 2019. Like Dr. Arcy, Dr. Ray loved Dr. Pol’s show and was encouraged by the show to pursue veterinary school. Born and raised in Kansas, Dr. Harp graduated with a bachelor of science degree in biology from Kansas State University. Following his time at the University, Dr. Harp began working at a dog daycare in Philadelphia, before returning to KSU to earn his degree as a vet technician.
After earning his degree, Dr. Harp moved to Michigan and found that Dr. Pol was hiring. His wife, Chloe, urged Dr. Harp to apply for the position and was selected to fill the position of associate veterinarian. Alongside Pol Veterinary service, Ray Harp became part of ” The Incredible Dr. Pol.” He appeared in 17 episodes from 2021 to 2022 before leaving the show for family reasons.
Dr. Lisa Jones:
Dr. Lisa Jones is an associate veterinarian at Pol Veterinary Services, a clinic in Weidman, Michigan that specializes in large farm animals. She joined the clinic on July 1, 2019, along with Dr. Ray. Before working at Pol Veterinary Services, Dr. Jones completed a four-year pre-vet bachelor course and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. However, there is not much information available about her prior experience or background.
Based on her appearances on the show, we can say Dr. Jones is in for a good haul. She made “The Incredible Dr. Pol” debut in 2020 during season 17 episode 2 titled “Sprain, Sprain, Go Away.” Since she has been a regular cast member making 72 episode appearances until 2023.
Dr. Jones has many good teachers to learn from, as she works with experienced veterinarians. She can look up to Dr. Pol, who has been practicing for over 40 years. She also has Dr. Brenda Grettenberger, who has more than 30 years of experience in the field. When it comes to learning, nothing can beat first-hand experience. Unlike Dr. Brenda, who struggled to gain the trust of farmers in her early veterinarian years, Dr. Lisa Jones enjoys practicing mixed animal treatments without any such challenges. She admires Dr. Brenda’s veterinarian skills, which helped her overcome the farmers’ mistrust.
